MYSQL -- mysql.iu.edu will be unavailable from 12:00am to 2:00am, Sunday, September 20, 2009

The following message was sent to Triton (mysql.iu.edu) account owners on Wednesday, September 16, 2009. You may also monitor this outage via IT Notices at: http://itnotices.iu.edu/notice.aspx?id=13419.

Colleagues,

You are the owner for one or more central MYSQL accounts. As such we contact you today with news about the upcoming upgrade from MySQL 3 to 5.0.

The first step will be to create a test environment. On Sunday, September 20, all production databases on mysql.iu.edu will be copied to the test MySQL 5.0 server. The production databases on mysql.iu.edu will be unavailable for 2 hours from 12:00am to 2:00am on September 20th in order to ensure data consistency when making the copy to the MySQL 5 upgrade environment.

Next week we will contact you with details on how to begin testing the upgraded copy of your databases. If no problems preventing the upgrade remain after the test period, the MySQL 3 production databases will be migrated to the new MySQL 5 environment on October 25th.

If you no longer need a MySQL account please let us know.

Regards, IU Webmaster
